Issue 1: Do NOT order a Gas Cap if the ONLY customer complaint is a Loose Gas Cap message/indicator. The Gas Cap is/was most likely loose after the last re-fueling event. Simply tighten the Gas Cap and the system will re-run the EVAP test and clear the message; or, tighten the Gas Cap and then use the DRB III to perform the “Clear PCM Batt Disconnect" function or the StarSCAN to perform the "Reset ECU" function. Refer to Service Bulletin 14-001-06 for more information. Issue 2: If your 2007 MY XK or WK has an evaporative MIL and was built between July 1st and August 4th, 2006, please inspect the inner sealing surface of the filler pipe for anomalies prior to replacing other components. These anomalies may prevent the filler cap from sealing properly.
