Issue 1: DR or DH Vehicles When the customer describes a speaker as rattling, distorted, blown, crackling, popping, static, cracked, or buzzing, please refer to TSB 23-028-07. Issue 2: For 2004 and 2005 DR, HB, RG and RS vehicles built prior to 5/1/2004. The customer may complain of hissing or crackling in one or more speakers, and may be misdiagnosed as a speaker or radio issue. This complaint can be verified by turning the radio to low volume or to 0 (mute) and listening to the audio system from the driver's seat for noticeable audible hissing or crackling noise. If the hissing noise is heard, do not replace the speakers or radio. Instead, the amplifier needs to be replaced. The replacement amplifier should have a date code of 1134. (The amplifiers have a small, square label near the connectors. The date code is the four digit number in the lower left corner of the label.) Issue 3: For WK and XK - Before replacing speakers for what may sound like speaker buzz please verify the buzz is not coming from the upper door trim panel. If you determine the BSR is from the upper door trim panel: 1. Carefully remove door trim panel which includes all screws ( XK = 2 ; WK = 3) 2. Add felt tape along entire width of inside edge of upper bolster which interfaces to belt-line molding. Note: If there is no hissing or crackling with the radio muted, then the system should be root caused and corrected as necessary. Issue 4: If you are replacing a 6x9 non-premium speaker on a vehicle equipped with a RCB, RCG or RCD sales code speaker system, that was built between February 26, 2007 and Sept 4, 2007, please refer to TSB 08-024-07. ______________________________________ Contact Us at CAGRIS@Chrysler.com for feedback related ONLY to this GPOP Tech Tip.
